Boardtracks were wooden tracks built in the early 1900’s that were abondoned or dismantled after serious weathering caused the death of riders and even spectators. Cars also raced on the boardtracks. Skateboarder’s X-treme Fall
It still makes him feel like a kid – Los Angeles Times
Skateboarder Jake Brown, whose 45-foot free-fall Thursday night brought a hush to the crowd at Staples Center, remains hospitalized after suffering bruises of the liver and lung, stress fractures in his vertebrae and a small fracture on the top of one hand.
He also suffered a mild concussion and could not immediately remember performing a 720-degree spin across the 70-foot gap leading to the quarterpipe — the first time that maneuver has been accomplished in competition.

With Kent Couch in the news, for balooning193 miles in a lawn chair; here was his inspiration:
“Larry Walters was your average blue collar worker – he drove a big truck, 5 ½ days a week. On Saturday afternoons (he lived in Los Angeles), he would get home around lunch time, walk into his house, open his refrigerator, take out his 6-pack (of Pepsi), then make his peanut butter sandwiches. He would take them outside and sit in his chaise lounge chair. As he would sit there (he had a large 6-8 foot fence all around his little yard) in his little piece of green grass, he wondered what his neighbors were doing – what they were thinking about, what they looked like. In the suburbs of Los Angeles, the climate was so close, and yet, despite the closeness, there was no knowing of each other. After doing this for about 6 months – every Saturday afternoon – he said he wanted to meet his neighbours, and he came up with an ingenious idea:

Instead of an epic surfing session you are flushed by too strong a current far away from land. You paddle for all you’re worth and then paddle some more to exhaustion, numbing cold and beyond. The guys in the lineup vanished below the horizon a while ago and there are no boats, lifeguards or anyone else that knows where you are. When a 6′ Tiger Shark Bites Both Feet
Tiger Shark teeth are more like needles, than the typical “V’-shaped Great White’s teeth. That is why you don’t see the usual tearing of most shark attacks in these photos, even though the surfer was yanked off of his board, as he was paddling out. (Click on them to enlarge) From the bite pattern. experts estimated that this was a 6 footer. Here is his story:
My girlfriend and eventual wife, Nat and I were in Florida visiting her family. During our stay the surf had been either flat or small, but on this day the surf had come up to overhead or better. We decided to watch the swell for awhile and wait for the tide to drop so the reef break in front of her house would build a little juice.
At about 10:00 am we put on our suits, waxed up the 6’2’s and walked the 2 blocks back up to the beach. Upon arriving, I slapped on my leash, ran down the beach to the water, and quickly began paddling through the soup as we had to go through about five rows of waves to get to the main peak. After three duck dives, I was about 30 meters off shore and still in white water, when I was grabbed from behind by my feet and pulled off my board, directly backwards.
