Sand Hill Crane Family Slide Show

ROBERT GROVER PHOTOGRAPHY – Presented by Phanfare

These pics were taken in the Suntree area of Florida ~Viera~ south of Cocoa & Titusville.

A Sand Hill Crane couple recently had an exciting addition to their family. When they built their nest near the water’s edge it immediately drew attention of passers by. Soon there were two eggs sitting on top of the nest and the mother on top of them.

The really curious passed by the site every morning and would stop their cars to get out and see if there were any new cranes yet. Many brought cameras of all shapes and sizes and would stand near the water for long periods of time hoping to catch a photo of the hatching.

Robert Grover, a dentist, didn’t actually catch the birth but, he sure did capture some fabulous shots of the Momma, Papa and baby (the second egg never hatched). Then he put together a slide show with music. Click on the Robert Grover Photography link. Thanks to Ken Beall for passing this on.

  3. I have had a special love for Cranes since the day I walked alongside one 20 years ago. What glorious creatures they are.

    This was wonderful, thank you!

  4. Just as touching to me as the love in the Crane family, it made me smile to see all the people standing on shore, the cranes unafraid, watching the story unfold. That’s the promising side of mankind!!

  5. I would like to purchase the music that went with this beautiful slide show. I would email Dr. Grover to ask him about it if I knew his email address. Does anyone recognize it?

  6. This slideshow brought tears to my eyes. It’s all about what’s right and important in this world. I MUST know what the music is. PLEASE…if anyone can identify it, please post. The whole presentation was simply breathtaking!

  7. The shot of the chick on the parent’s back was fantastic. From someone who has spent many hours observing bird behavior, I can say that these pictures are wonderful.

    Keep up the good work.

  11. I work for a non-profit agency called “The Healing Species”. We teach an 11 week compassion education program in the public schools and would like to show this slide during one of our lessons. Is it possible to get a copy on DVD? Many of our lessons revolve around the animals in our world and how we can show compassion to them. We also bring a rescued dog into the classroom each week so the children can witness a tangible rescue story that demonstrates that we can overcome lifes difficult challenges. Many children are silently suffering inside from verbal and physical abuse. We teach them ways to rise above negative circumstances. Please check out our website at http://www.healingspecies.org to learn more about our agency. We would also like to put a link on our website to this slide show. It is absolutely beautiful!!
Great work that you are doing. There is a free program called Tube Me that can save the slide show to your PC or laptop for presentation purposes. If you haven’t already seen it, this is also an inspiring video:
